The play140 Manifesto
Text is beautiful. We believe in the power of words. Three words guide
everything we do: easy, honest, and
fun. Our games are easy to play - just follow
a Twitter account or send a text message and you are in the game. We are honest
- we won’t spam you or your friends or clutter your social feed. Most importantly, our games are designed
to be fun. No level grinds. No clickfests. Just great social games that are
actually social.
Our team
Shawn Broderick
Shawn’s been doing the tech startup thing for a long, long time, including a stint as the director
of Boston TechStars. Follow Shawn on Twitter to read great advice for startups... and random
comments about cars, kids, or the New England Patriots.
Andrea Jennifer Shubert
Drea is an award-winning game designer. As our Chief Creative Officer, it is her job to come up
with game ideas. Luckily, she does this in her sleep. When she’s awake, she’s playtesting those
ideas... or tweeting about games, Joss Whedon, LGBT equality, Magic the Gathering, or WWE.
Michael Johnson
Mike combines his previous life as a game developer with nearly a decade of experience in
web startups as the driving force behind play140's technology. Past accomplishments include
developing custom game server platforms, secure networking technologies, identity and privacy
software, and one of the world's first virtual property systems for online games. Mike tweets
and blogs about geeky programming details mostly, with an occasional nod to his interest in
marathon running.
Tom Monaghan
Dad, reader, recovering autocrosser, and also a New England Patriots fan, Tom has been the founder of a bunch of stuff, and the developer of even more stuff. Tom was responsible for the initial development of play140's platform and currently serves in an advisory capacity.
